What can you say about Peyton, affectionately known as Miss P. I had the opportunity to speak with Lori Crandlemire the breeder and co-owner of MBIS, MBISS, Am GCH, Can GCHEX Tashtins Lookin For Trouble, CGN. Miss P is incredibly accomplished and has won 37 Best in Show wins in Canada and the US to achieve these prestigious titles.

With anticipation of any upcoming litter, breeders hope and pray that the one special dog will be there. More often than not, this never happens. But every now and then, when for lack of a better analogy, the stars align and a very special puppy arrives. Miss P was that puppy for Lori & Katie (co-owner).  Sometimes you know that you have that special puppy, but how do you prepare for the ride of a lifetime? That was exactly the ride that Lori & Katie went on. Even now, I suspect most of the thrills have not totally been appreciated, and on the heels of the BIS Westminster win, there is hardly time to for them to catch their breath.

Miss P had a legion of supporters and friends cheering her along on this journey. She had her share of naysayers as well, but that didn’t tarnish the star that was Miss P! It’s been a long time since Lori handed the leash over to Miss P’s handler and trainer, Will Alexander. Nobody could have achieved what this team did, without love and respect between dog and Handler. What a team that was. But now, it’s time for Miss P to go home to Lori and Katie. I asked Lori a bit about what all of this meant to them and this is what she said.

When did you know Miss P was special?
"From about 12 weeks I knew she was staying and when I watched her in the ring with Katie the first time I knew Katie was going to have fun with her. I certainly never dreamed she would have the future she did. Thankfully Will did."

How many puppies were in the litter, any other superstars?
"There was 1 male and 5 females in the litter. It was a beautiful even litter.  P just stood out in all ways.” Each puppy went to wonderful homes that I am in contact with and are superstars to their families."

What was it like to have her gone for so long?
"It was hard to start with her being away but I knew she was well loved and cared for by Will. She adored him. My only wish is that I had lived closer so that we could have enjoyed watching her show. Now that she's retired I'm excited for her to come home."

What does her Westminster win mean to you?
"Winning at Westminster still just doesn’t seem real to me. I’m not sure when it will. I know the journey that we have been on for the last three years has been amazing. Miss P and Will have accomplished things I never even dreamt of. There have been so many friends and even people that I didn’t know that have made it so special and memorable along the way.  Katie and I have been so fortunate to be able to share Miss P with Will, Wayne, Brody and Eddie and I can't imagine spending these last three years with anyone but them."

What surprise do you have waiting at home for Miss P when she returns?
"P's biggest surprise when she gets home is she has to share being #1 and the bed with a Doberman."
